Sikh Women’s Aid invites partners, funders and allies to join us for our annual Remembrance Day, a powerful and purposeful event dedicated to remembering Sikh Panjabi women and girls who have lost their lives to domestic abuse, honour-based abuse and harmful practices.
Taking place on Friday 17th July 2026, 10.30am - 1.30pm this year’s event will place a regional spotlight on the East Midlands, examining high-profile domestic homicides and domestic abuse-related deaths. Through this lens, we will bring together professionals, advocates and community leaders to critically reflect on the lessons that must be learned and the systemic changes required to prevent further loss of life.
At the heart of the event will be a moving exhibition of Sikh Panjabi women and girls whose lives were taken too soon. Their stories will be shared with dignity and truth, ensuring they are not forgotten, while also challenging the anonymity often afforded to perpetrators.
As a specialist ‘by and for’ organisation, Sikh Women’s Aid works at the frontline of addressing domestic abuse, honour-based violence and harmful practices within the Sikh Panjabi community—issues which remain underreported, misunderstood and often hidden . Our work, grounded in research and lived experience, continues to highlight the urgent need for culturally competent responses and systemic accountability.
